- RULING
- "The Gremlin Leader summons come from Act I summons deck. I should have specified this on Gremlin Leader. My mistake! The reprint will correct this mistake." The Act II Elite's summoned gremlins are drawn from the Act I summons deck, not the Act II summons deck.

DESIGNER CLARIFICATIONS4
Killing the last enemy ends combat before retaliationdesigner
- CONTEXT
- Players asked whether killing the final enemy (e.g., the Guardian while in Defensive Mode) still inflicts its retaliation/defensive damage on you.
- RULING
- "Combat ends immediately and you don't take the damage. The only time combat doesn't end immediately when all monsters are dead is 'on death' abilities that summon an enemy."
AUTHOR: garyrocks (Gary Dworetsky, designer/publisher)SOURCE: boardgamegeek.com(21 replies)DATE: 2024-08-18Poison resolves at the end of the player rounddesigner
- CONTEXT
- The rulebook states poison damage is applied "at the end of turn," which some players read as the end of the full round.
- RULING
- Poison damage is applied at the end of the player round (equivalently, the start of the enemy turn), not at the end of the full round. As the designer noted, "'End of round' is clarified on another page (12) as end of player round."

- CONTEXT
- In the video game, summoned minions vanish when their Elite or Boss dies; players asked whether the board game does the same.
- RULING
- "There's no rule for summons running away when an Elite or Boss is defeated." Summoned enemies remain in play and must still be dealt with.
AUTHOR: garyrocks (Gary Dworetsky, designer/publisher)SOURCE: boardgamegeek.com(16 replies)DATE: 2022-11-10The "main" Sentry's different attack is intentionaldesigner
- CONTEXT
- Players noticed that the "main" Sentry attacks differently from, and deals less damage than, the summoned Sentries.
- RULING
- The difference is intentional, not a misprint: "Because this fight is harder solo and players needed a little help." The character in the bottom row therefore faces a slightly different version of the Elite than the rest. Note that the Ascension 1 main Sentry works differently.

Q&A5
Strength on multi-hit attackscommunity high-engagement
- QUESTION
- When you play a multi-hit attack while you have a Strength token, does Strength apply once or to each hit?
- ANSWER
- Strength applies to each hit individually. For example, a 2-hit attack with +1 Strength deals its base damage +1 on each of the two hits.
Elites occupy every player's rowcommunity high-engagement
- QUESTION
- When an Elite is revealed in the bottom player's row and summons minions, are the Elite and its minions only in that one row?
- ANSWER
- No. Elites, like Bosses, are present in every player's row unless specified otherwise, and any minions they summon appear in each player's row.
Only SWORD damage is affected by SWORD-damage modifierscommunity high-engagement
- QUESTION
- Do modifiers that reference SWORD damage (e.g., Flying, which reduces SWORD damage) also affect non-SWORD damage such as orb/lightning damage?
- ANSWER
- No. Only SWORD-icon damage is affected by SWORD-damage modifiers (Strength buffs, Flying reduction, etc.). Non-SWORD damage — orb/lightning damage and poison — ignores those modifiers, so for example lightning deals full damage to Flying enemies.
Evoking an orb does not count as "playing an attack"community high-engagement
- QUESTION
- Does evoking a Dark or Lightning orb count as "playing an attack" (e.g., for triggering the Guardian's Defensive Mode, which responds "when you play an attack")?
- ANSWER
- No. Evoking an orb deals damage but does not count as playing an attack, so it does not trigger effects conditioned on "when you play an attack."
Resetting after you die or losecommunity high-engagement
- QUESTION
- When you die or lose, do you keep the cards you gained or purchased during the run?
- ANSWER
- No. It is a roguelike — at game end (win or lose) you reset: flip all upgraded cards back to their unupgraded side and reset your decks (rulebook page 23, "Game End – Reset"). The only persistent progress is Unlocks: each player checks 1 box per Boss defeated, plus 1 extra box each (rulebook page 20).

HOW MIRA KNOWS

Not an AI guessing rules. A curated archive.
Every answer Mira gives is grounded in an official rulebook — not in what a language model thinks the rules probably say. Our team reads, structures, and curates each game's rulebook before Mira can answer a single question about it.

At the end of each round, the player with the most of the goal trait scores points equal to their amount; the player with the second most scores fewer.
