Rune card market does not refresh each roundpublisherdesigner
- CONTEXT
- Players were unsure whether the two face-up rune card market spaces are fully refreshed at the start of each round.
- RULING
- "You do not discard and refill the rune cards. Simply refill any empty spaces." Only spaces emptied by a purchase are refilled during round setup. Non-purchased rune cards remain in place until bought. Per the designer: when a card is purchased, the remaining card shifts to fill the vacated slot and a new card is drawn to the other space.

- CONTEXT
- Players debated whether favor tokens could only be used in combat or also at the hunting grounds.
- RULING
- "Any time the dice are rolled, a favor may be used to reroll — hunting included. -Josh Grey Fox Games"

- CONTEXT
- Players questioned whether market and trade spaces could be activated multiple times after placing a single worker.
- RULING
- "You can do the trade only once unless it says the maximum is different (food for favors max 3), and you can only give up the left side to get the right." Each trade or exchange action resolves once per placement, except tiles that explicitly state a maximum (e.g., the Aumingi market stall with "up to 3 times").
Troll defeat: full reward sequencedesigner
- CONTEXT
- The troll card iconography was unclear to many players, and the rulebook reference (p.10 Combat Resolution, section 2) did not spell out the complete sequence.
- RULING
- When a player defeats the troll: (1) collect the glory points shown on the left of the troll card; (2) return 1 blame token to the supply and instruct 1 chosen opponent to take 1 blame token; (3) receive 1 wood. When defeating the Troll King, all opponents must each take 1 blame token instead of just one chosen opponent.
Blame token after troll defeat can be passed directly to an opponentpublisher
- CONTEXT
- A player asked whether there was a reason not to simply hand the blame token directly to an opponent rather than returning it to the supply and having the opponent draw one.
- RULING
- "You can do this. It is worded the way it is to ensure that if a player without any blame defeats the troll that their intended target is still required to take one. -Josh Grey Fox Games" Either method is valid; the indirect phrasing protects the case where the defeating player has no blame tokens of their own to hand over.

Q&A3
Does building a private ship require a second worker to launch it?designer
- QUESTION
- When a player builds a private ship at the Shipwright, does the same worker automatically take it on a journey, or does a second worker need to be assigned to launch it?
- ANSWER
- "Yes, building it and launching it are two separate actions. Two workers are needed — one to build, and then later, another to launch it. Best, Ole Steiness." Owning the ship alone also grants glory; you do not need to immediately sail it.
Do used rune cards still score glory at the end of the game?publisherdesigner
- QUESTION
- After flipping and activating a rune card, does it still count toward end-game glory scoring?
- ANSWER
- Yes. "Runes (used or unused) provide glory at the end of the game," per p.9 "Game End & Final Scoring." Using a rune card does not forfeit its end-game glory value. Purchasing a rune card for 1 wood therefore gains you both a one-time ability and its glory point(s).

- QUESTION
- If the Longhouse is full, can a player still place a worker on a recruitment space (e.g., Blacksmith, Hafter) to deny it to others, even though no warriors can be gained?
- ANSWER
- "You can take the recruitment spaces at any time. You do activate their effect, even if that effect doesn't help you. If you had a full longhouse, you would collect no warriors and simply return the warriors in the spot you took to the general supply. -Josh Grey Fox Games" This is a legal blocking play.

EDGE CASES3
Food lost via journey events cascades to warrior losses if supply falls shortpublisher
- SITUATION
- A player's ship encounters a journey event that causes food to be lost. After the loss, the remaining food on the ship is no longer sufficient to feed all warriors for the voyage.
- RULING
- Resources lost from journey events are lost from the ship, not from personal supply. If the food remaining on the ship after a journey-card loss cannot feed all warriors (1 food per 2 warriors for Near destinations), the underfed warriors also die. Example: ship with 3 warriors and 2 food (Near voyage) encounters "lose 1 food" — now 3 warriors and 1 food; 1 food feeds only 2, so 1 warrior is lost. When given a choice of items to lose, choosing food can therefore cascade into warrior losses.

- SITUATION
- A player arrives at a monster location with fewer warrior dice than the monster's attack value, raising the question of whether the battle is even legal.
- RULING
- "You can challenge any enemy with any amount of warrior dice; it is not mandatory to have enough warrior dice to match their hit strength." The player simply rolls whatever dice they have. The meeple (worker at the helm) always returns regardless of combat outcome; only warrior dice are lost.
When all warriors die in the same round the monster is slain, rewards are still collectedpublisher
- SITUATION
- A player's combat round results in the monster taking lethal damage at the same time all committed warrior dice are killed. The question is whether the player still receives combat rewards.
- RULING
- "You are playing it properly. What could be more glorious than to die in battle?!" All combat rewards (glory, gold, monster card) are collected even when every warrior dies, provided the monster takes lethal damage that round. The worker (meeple) at the helm always survives and brings back the loot and the ship — "not every Viking is a warrior, and your workers always come home."
